Almost arrested by Stormtrooper at Sci-Fi World

March 5, 2017

I decided to go practice sketching people at the 20th Sci-Fi World, hosted in Malmö. It is usually a  quite small convention, not at all as big as in other parts of the world. But it does have its loyal visitors and exhibitors. They also hosted the national cosplay semifinal and that is a great opportunity to sketch cool characters and since it's on site it still count as Urban Sketching. How about that!

Master Chief from Halo was a really nice guy. When I sketched him he did not have his helmet on because he was discussing the suit with a purple haired girl. But he gladly took in on for a pose. I remember Jack Sparrow from last year and he still had a great costume.

The Colonial Marine from Warhammer, I think, was the cosplay winner. The costume was huge. And it thumped when he walked. The guy's inside had his feet in level with the knees of the suit. This armour was also claimed to be extremely hot inside. It actually had a built in fan, but it broke after one hour, so he did just have his visir on for the competition. Gandalf Grey was secretly curious about this futuristic evil magic.

The 51st Legion needs you... they were "recruiting" children to the photo booth. I was inspected and almost arrested by a suspicious Stormtrooper but I suppose the force was strong with me because he let me carry on.

The 51st Legion and the Nordic Garrison were having their parade and told us about their quest. A child was waving his light sabre from the shoulders of his father while R2D2 was blip-blip-oiiiiiiii to his left.

Darth Vader was satisfied with my parade sketch so I was finally allowed to go home.
